My US Citizenship Is On The “Green Cards”!

by Dane Masters

For long has the United States of America been believed to be the gateway to the fulfillment of all dreams! This is not the sole belief of one country alone; it is a global view! Plenty of people apply for migration to this promised land of opportunity and keep waiting for their applications to be approved. Owning a green card citizenship is the pet dream of one and all.

It was a certain group of pilgrims who were determined to discover a better way of life, who landed on these shores by accident. They crossed the Atlantic in the Mayflower. This land where they settled down, became the USA. And these pilgrims were established as the first citizens of this newly-discovered land. These facts are very much visible in history books. Since then, varied cultures and varied sects of people have flocked to the place and settled here.

Additionally, the US has become a sort of haven for people from troubled countries to settle down. These persecuted people have escaped from places in turmoil. Since the US has never been a country to turn away those in need of help, numerous Africans, people from the Middle East and Jews have been granted US citizenship. Not only do troubled souls make their way here, but even those who are well educated and skilled and are hoping to get better job opportunities have come and settled down here. These are mainly from India and China, but also include migrants from other countries. The reasons for coming to the US could be that they desire to reunite with their families already settled on these shores, or just want to ensure a better lifestyle for their families.

Now, New York is the heart of the US. The country’s economic growth is decided by this bustling metropolis. And it is here that one finds that out of every four persons with US citizenship, three constitute people from foreign shores! And the story does not end there; there are still a few thousand more who get to New York every day in the hope that they can become US citizens sooner or later! Even more startling is the fact that the US Government conducts a pool annually, where participants are granted automatic US citizenship via Green Cards should they win. And the numbers are staggering! 50,000 cards each year! This author had the luck to meet up with a Lebanese taxi driver who gained citizenship in this manner. But there is a catch here–all countries cannot participate. The US just wants to prove that it allows a diverse culture to settle down on its shores, and so conducts this pool. The USAIS ensures that there are an equal number of migrants from unrepresented countries who are given an opportunity to stay and work here!

The US is a country that offers dual citizenship. This is why people from all over the world apply for a US citizenship, as it enables them to retain their ties with their home countries while enjoying the standard of living and the opportunities that a US citizenship offers. And a US citizenship is also a matter of prestige, an honor that indicates that one has finally attained the maximum that is possible in this life. All said and done, the US economy is the largest economy in the world. And the opportunities that can be gained by living and working in the US are immeasurable.
