by Karl-Heinz Straus

For those people that want to go on an adventure safari to Kenya, Northern Kenya which has the Laikipia Ecosystem holds 2,000,000 acres of untainted wilderness. The wildreness has an incredible mix of wildlife which can be seen by road, camel, four by fours or horses.

The Laikipia area is an area in Kenya that is home to different communities that include the Maasai, Kikuyu and even Meru who live close to the Turkana, Samburu and Embu. These communities have come together and in partnership to work out a deal with settlers and ranchers and as a result have created a beautiful conservation haven.

Many wild animals have their homes in this great Plateau region which stretches all the way from the Mount Kenya area to the Great Rift Valley. Some of these animals include the Grevy zebra and the reticulated Giraffe.

This area has the advantage to the visitor because the game found here lives in total harmony with the human population. The wild animals enjoy the free vast lands and are able to move about freely. Visitors also get to enjoy total liberty in Laikipia which frees them from the restricting rules that are found in game parks and reserves. The region is mostly community or privately owned. The advantage with this is that it allows the visitor the awesome privilege of watching game at night or even riding horses in the bush and get to experience life in the African wilderness.

If you plan to visit the Laikipia areas, these are some of the awesome wildreness retreats that you must visit.
