Which do you think could pull in more commission (generally, not all the time) for a real estate agent? I think I might try to do this when I graduate college in a few years, even though the market isn’t doing well these days.

People always need homes. No matter how bad the market gets, there is always some action happening, as people relocate for work etc.
Vacation homes are purely discretionary, sales can drop to virtually zero in a bad economy. An example an area near me, where year to year new home starts in most areas are down 15-20%. New home starts in a semi-local area primarily used for vacation homes? down 98% year to year.
There is rarely much money in vacation homes. Since these purchases are entirely discretionary, you only make money at the top of a real estate boom. In fact, increases of sales & prices in the vacation market is one of the best indicators of a boom about to bust.
