In this case the skier is irrelevent. The formula will simply be the speed of the boat.
22t – 34(1 – t) = 0 , shows speed up and down, and that time = 1
22t – 34 + 34t = 0
56t = 34
t = .607 hr
.607 * 22 = 13.36 miles, time upstream is .607 hr
(1 – .607) = .393 hr
.393 * 34 = 13.36 miles , time downstream is .393 hr
